WELCOME TO THE OFFICIAL WEBSITE OF THE GREATER VANCOUVER INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION AT GVISAA.COM CURRENT: TRACK & FIELD
The GVISAA track & field meet is a Gran Forza style meet with schools breaking their athletes into teams of no more than 8.  The teams of 8 (or less) must be in the same category (junior girls, junior boys, senior girls or senior boys).

Junior is grade 8 & 9, while Senior is grade 10-12 for Track & Field.

Each team (Team A, B, C, etc) gets to enter:

1 athlete in the 100m
1 athlete in the 400m
1 athlete in the long jump
1 athlete in the high jump
1 athlete in the shot put
1 4x100m relay team
1 Medley relay team (600, 200, 400, 800)

Each individual athlete can compete in a maximum of 4 of the events (including relays)

The 100, 400, long jump, high jump, shot put and 4x100m will award points as follows:

1st = 10
2nd = 8
3rd = 6
4th = 5
5th = 4
6th = 3
7th = 2
8th = 1

The medley relay will be worth double points.  So the maximum score that a team could potentially get is 80 points.

If you have 40 athletes in your school you would likely be looking at having 5-8 or more separate teams.  You can have less than 8 athletes per team, but if someone gets hurt, or withdraws from an event, they can only be substituted by someone on that particular team.  You can also leave an event blank if you don't have enough athletes to fill all of the spots.
