Regular Season Games
During the regular season all games will be played with the following rules:
Senior Games will have 35 minute halves.
Junior Games will have 30 minute halves.
Bantam Games will have 30 minute halves.
All regular season games will be played with regulation time only. There will be no over time. If the game ends in a tie, it will be recorded as a tie in the standings. The teams will finish the game in a shoot-out, but for tie-breaker purposes only for the play-off standings. Each team will get 3 shooters, followed by 1 shooter each (as many times as needed) if the teams are still tied after the first three shooters.
Wins are worth 3 points
Ties are worth 1 point
Reporting Scores
All scores should be sent to the Coordinator (coordinator@gvisaa.com) by both teams after completion of the game. Preferably the same day as the game.
Player Discipline
All yellow and red cards need to be reported to the Coordinator with the score of the game. A player who gets 3 yellows over the regular season will sit out 1 game. A red card is an automatic 1 game suspension. Any player who receives multiple yellows or a red card will automatically be reviewed by the discipline committee and could face further sanctions.
Rosters
Please print off your BCSS STARS roster, with numbers for the players inserted, and bring a copy for the referee, as well as one for the opposing coach to each game. If a player is not on the roster, they are not eligible for the game. If a player is playing up from a lower division team, make sure you bring both exnet rosters and indicate which player(s) is/are playing up.
Playoffs
Up to 6 teams make the play-offs (per division if there are multiple divisions). The first round is a cross-over round if there are multiple divisions. The format is as follows:
Round #1
Seed 1 and 2 get a bye
3 vs 6 & 4 vs 5 - crossing over divisions
Round #2
1 plays winner of 4 vs 5 (the 4 side is from the other division)
2 plays the winner of the 3 vs 6 (the 3 side is from the other division)
This makes it possible for the final four teams remaining to be from the same division.
If a playoff game is tied at the end of regulation, the teams will play 2 x 10 halves of added time with the Golden Goal rule. If there is no winner after the added time, the teams will progress to a shoot-out. 5 shooters for each team, followed by 1 vs 1 shooting, until the tie is broken.
Referee Allocation
Our Referee Allocator is Angelo Pulice. The Coordinator books all of the referees at the beginning of the season. Once the initial schedule has been sent to Angelo at the beginning of the year, any changes to it need to be completed directly with him. You can contact Angelo at:
C: 604-760-8372
Email: apulice@shaw.ca
For Senior Games referees are paid $60.
For Junior and Bantam games referees are paid $55.
Each team is responsible for bringing half of the fee in cash to the field for the referee.
