GVISAA Basketball Rules

Ball Size
Bantam, Junior and Senior Boys use size 7 Baden
Bantam, Junior and Senior Girls use size 6 Baden

Presses and Zones
Bantam – There are no zone defenses or zone presses permitted.  Full court man-to-man presses are permitted.
Bantam & Junior – All presses must be removed once a team is ahead by 20 points or more.  If the losing team gets back within 20 points the press may be resumed.
Senior – No restrictions but use good judgement.

Reporting Scores
All scores should be sent to the Coordinator (coordinator@gvisaa.com) by both teams after completion of the game, preferably the same day as the game.

Player Discipline
All technical fouls and ejections need to be reported to the Coordinator with the score of the game.   A player or coach who receives multiple technical fouls or an ejection from a game will be automatically reviewed.  Players or coaches with multiple technical fouls on the season or an ejection will likely receive a suspension.  Further issues in the same season could result in further sanctions.

Rosters
Please print off your BCSS STARS roster, with numbers for the players inserted, and bring a copy to the scorers table, as well as one for the opposing coach to each game.  If a player is not on the roster, they are not eligible for the game.  If a player is playing up from a lower division team, make sure you bring both STARS rosters and indicate which player(s) is/are playing up.
Playoffs
Please see the playoff draw for the up to date playoff structure.

Referee Allocation
Schools on the North Shore and the Fraser Valley book their own referees.
Schools in Vancouver, Burnaby and New West have the option of having their regular season referees booked through the Coordinator at the beginning of the season.
Once the referees are booked at the beginning of the season, please contact Chito directly to inform him of any changes and let the Coordinator know of the change so the website can be updated.
